Tuesday, 5th October 2010

Deceased former Coolmore shuttler & multiple champion sire Danehill (Danzig-Razyana, by His Majesty) added a Gr1 triumph when evergreen 9YO gelding Zipping (Danehill-Social Scene, by Grand Lodge) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $500,000 Gr1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) for 4YOs & up at Flemington in Melbourne. Zipping (ridden by Nicholas Hall for trainer Robert Hickmott) scored by a long-head from 5YO entire Shocking (Street Cry-Maria Di Castiglia, by Danehill) with a further half-head to favoured 4YO gelding Shoot Out (High Chaparral-Pentamerous, by Pentire). Zipping (a $190,000 yearling at the 2003 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 15 wins (also including March's Gr1 Darley Australian Cup over 2000m at Flemington, plus 2009's Gr2 Sandown Classic over 2400m at Sandown Hillside for the 3rd successive year, as well as 2006's Gr2 Moonee Valley Cup over 2500m & Listed Naturalism Stakes over 2000m at Caulfield, in addition to 2005's Listed Hong Kong Jockey Club Plate over 1800m at Flemington) & 9 placings (including 2009's Gr1 Cox Plate over 2040m at Moonee Valley, plus 2008's Gr1 Cox Plate & Gr1 Patinack Farm Turnbull Stakes over 2000m at Flemington, as well as 2007's Gr1 Mackinnon Stakes over 2000m at Flemington & Gr2 Makybe Diva Stakes over 1600m at Flemington, in addition to 2006's Gr2 Craiglee Stakes over 1600m at Flemington) from 43 starts for $3,630,195 earnings.
