Friday, 19th December 2008

Up-and-coming 5YO sprinting entire Kiloton (Spinning World-Mystifying, by Last Tycoon) "has had a change of ownership, which will lead him to a stud career in New Zealand, provided he races up to the expectations of trainer Tim Martin," reported The Sydney Morning Herald. Kiloton, winner of his initial 4 races starts (beginning in October 2006 but subsequently hampered by injuries & the equine influenza outbreak, has been bought by NZ breeder Bill Gleeson (60%) & Sydney owner Keith Grocott (40%). Gleeson is a part-owner of 4-time Gr1-winning 4YO entire Alamosa (O'Reilly-Lodore Mystic, by Centaine) "which is scheduled to begin his stud career at Gleeson's NZ Wellfield Stud in Palmerston North & the plan is for Kiloton to join him". Kiltono (a $200,000 yearling consigned by Coolmore Stud at the 2005 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) currently boasts 4 wins & 1 placing (in September's Gr3 Bill Ritchie Handicap over 1400m at Randwick) from 6 starts for $126,425 earnings.
