US Champ Artax Moves To Diamond G
Former US champion sprinter & Gr1 Breeders' Cup winner Artax (Marquetry-Raging Apalachee, by Apalachee) "has been acquired by R.G.Gammill to stand at his Diamond G Ranch in Oklahoma at a fee of US$2,500" reported bloodhorse.com. Now 13-year-old Artax (who formerly stood in New York) has sired 16 stakes-horses & the earners of US$11.1 million; his stakes-winners include Gr1-winner Friendly Michelle, millionaire Diabolical & Magnetic Miss (a multiple stakes-winner in 2008). On the track, Artax was voted champion sprinter after winning both 1999's Gr1 Breeders' Cup Sprint (in track-record-equaling time at Gulfstream Park) & Gr1 Vosburgh Stakes. He retired with earnings of US$1,685,840.
