Rags To Riches Wins Recognition Stakes

Former NZ The Oaks Stud stallion Entrepreneur (Sadler's Wells-Exclusive Order, by Exclusive Native) also added a black-type success when front-running 8YO gelding Rags To Riches (Entrepreneur-Candescent, by Bassenthwaite) snatched victory by a short-halfhead in the $75,000 Listed Tattersall's Recognition Stakes (1600m) at Eagle Farm in Brisbane. Rags To Riches (ridden by Shane Scriven for trainer Liam Birchley) defeated favoured 4YO gelding Hey Elvis (Clang-Queen Of Song, by Manshood) & 6YO gelding Jujulio (Iglesia-Miss Simes, by Simonstad). Rags To Riches (a NZ$22,000 weanling at the 2001 NZB Broodmare Sale at Karaka & subsequently passed-in for NZ$20,000 at the 2002 NZB Select Colts Yearling Sale) now has 14 wins (also including both June's Listed Centenary Classic Mile over 1600m at Eagle Farm & Listed Phil Sullivan Handicap over 1600m at Eagle Farm, plus 2006's NZ Gr1 Easter Handicap over 1600m at Ellerslie) & 14 placings (including 2006's NZ Gr2 Rich Hill Mile over 1600m at Ellerslie) from 61 starts for $386,680 earnings.
