Well Armed Wins US Gr1 Goodwood Stakes

Favoured 5YO gelding Well Armed (Tiznow-Well Dressed, by Notebook) scored a 1-length victory in the US$500,000 Gr1 Goodwood Breeders' Cup Stakes (9 furlongs on all-weather) at Santa Anita in California. Well Armed (ridden by Aaron Gryder for trainer Eoin Harty) defeated fast-finishing multiple Gr1-winning 4YO entire Tiago (Pleasant Tap-Set Them Free, by Stop The Music) & fellow 4YO entire Albertus Maximus (Albert The Great-Chasethewildwind, by Forty Niner). Previously this year Well Armed finished runner-up last start in August's US Gr1 Pacific Classic (10 furlongs on all-weather) at Del Mar & 3rd behind superstar Curlin in March's Gr1 Dubai World Cup (2000m) at Nad Al Sheba, as well as winning February's US Gr2 San Antonio Handicap (9 furlongs) at Santa Anita & July's Gr2 San Diego Handicap (8.5 furlongs) at Del Mar. Overall Kentucky-bred Well Armed (a half-brother to Gr1-placed winner Helsinki) now has 6 wins from 19 starts for US$1,530,803 earnings.
