Monday, 18th August 2008

On the Australian track, Coolmore shuttler Danehill Dancer (Danehill-Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) added a group success when unbeaten 4YO gelding Light Fantastic (Danehill Dancer-Leica Or Not, by Kendor) returned from a 23-weeks spell to score a 0.75-lengths victory in the $200,000 weight-for-age Gr2 J.J.Liston Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield in Melbourne. Light Fantastic (ridden by Craig Newitt for trainer Mick Price) defeated multiple Gr1-winning favoured fellow 4YO gelding Weekend Hussler (Hussonet-Weekend Beauty, by Helissio) & Gr1-winning 6YO gelding Maldivian (Zabeel-Shynzi, by Danzig). Light Fantastic (a Wood Nook Farm home-bred) now has 5 wins (also including March's Gr1 Cadbury Guineas over 1600m at Flemington & both February's Gr2 Perri Cutten Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield & Listed Nissan Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley) from 5 starts for $775,500 earnings.
