Storming Home Unable To Shuttle To NZ In 2008

Friday, 30th May 2008

NZ stud Stoney Bridge announced it will be without the services of 2001 Champion British 3YO Storming Home (Machiavellian-Try To Catch Me, by Shareef Dancer) this year "after quarantine issues have made his return impossible". The 3-time Gr1-winning Darley stallion (whose 8 wins included the UK Gr1 Champion Stakes at Newmarket, plus both the US Gr1 Charles Whittingham Handicap at Hollywood Park & Gr1 Clement Hirsch Turf Championship at Santa Anita) served his 2008 Northern hemisphere stint in Japan "but is unable to enter the 90-days quarantine in time to facilitate his shuttle movement". Stoney Bridge manager Peter Jenkins commented: "Essentially we are in an identical situation with Storming Home to that which Cambridge Stud find themselves with Stravinsky." Just 10 days ago Storming Home recorded his 1st stakes-winner when 3YO colt Captain Webb (bred by Gainsborough Stud & raced by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum) scored a 3-lengths victory in the Listed Glasgow Stakes (11 furlongs) at Hamilton in the UK for trainer Mark Johnston in a new track record time. Meanwhile Stoney Bridge also confirmed it will make "a major shuttle stallion announcement next week".
