Magic Millions Weanlings Select Average Up 5.1%

Friday, 30th May 2008

Cumulatively after 3 days (the conclusion of the Select component) at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, 416 lots sold for a record $19,581,750 (up 2.4% on last year's 429 sold for $19,119,000). The $46,846 average was also a new record & up 5.1% (last year $44,566). Magic Millions managing director David Chester summed up: "With a record aggregate & average price & a really healthy clearance rate (83.43%) we are definitely pleased. Quarantine & agistment issues with horses getting back to New Zealand because of equine influenza has affected the sale I'm sure: they were just so much more active across all price ranges last year. To have buyers from NZ, Singapore, France, Ireland & the US, the sale has really earned its status as one of the finest in the world."
