Halfway To Heaven Wins Irish Gr1 1000 Guineas

In Ireland overnight, Halfway To Heaven (Pivotal-Cassandra Go, by Indian Ridge) gained the judge's verdict in a 3-way photo-finish to the €400,000 (A$680,000) Gr1 Irish 1000 Guineas (8 furlongs) for 3YO fillies at The Curragh. Halfway To Heaven (ridden by Seamus Heffernan for trainer Aidan O'Brien) scored by a head from Mad About You (Indian Ridge-Irresistible Jewel, by Danehill) with a further neck to the runner-up's stable-mate Carribean Sunset (Danehill Dancer-Bonheur, by Royal Academy). At her previous 2 starts this season, Halfway To Heaven finished runner-up in Ireland's Gr3 1000 Guineas Trial Stakes (7 furlongs) at Leopardstown on April 6 & then 3rd in France's Gr1 Poule D'Essau Des Pouliches-1000 Guineas (1600m) at Longchamp on May 11; overall she now has 2 wins & 2 placings from 5 starts.
