Royal Discretion Wins Hawkesbury Guineas

Monday, 12th May 2008

Former shuttler & now permanently Australian-based Coolmore stallion Royal Academy (Nijinsky-Crimson Saint, by Crimson Satan) added a black-type success when gelded son Royal Discretion (Royal Academy-Discretion, by Canny Lad) made it 2 successive stakes wins in a fortnight with a 1.25-length victory in the $100,000 Listed Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) for 3YOs in NSW. Favourite Royal Discretion (ridden by Nash Rawiller for trainer Gai Waterhouse) defeated the colts Turffontein (Johannesburg-Spirit Of Grace, by Dr Grace) & Acey Ducey (Xaar-Deduce, by Known Fact). Royal Discretion (a $180,000 yearling consigned by Attunga Stud at the 2006 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 5 wins (also including last start's Gr3 South Pacific Classic over 1400m at Randwick on April 30 & March's Listed Darby Munro Quality over 1200m at Rosehill) & a placing from 12 starts for $300,575 earnings.
