De Beers Syndicate Buys Mares To Support New Sire
The Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale saw the 1st purchases by the recently formed De Beers Syndicate. Gr1-winning 5YO stallion De Beers (Quest For Fame-Chimeara, by Danehill) will commence stud duties this season at Lindsay Park & his owners have been busy seeking suitable mares to support him. Quality lots purchased by bloodstock agent Mark Pilkington on behalf of the De Beers Syndicate included: Boardwalk Bell (half sister to Champion 9-time Gr1-winner Northerly as well as stakes-winners North Boy & Northern Song); Holbrook Lass (dam of G1 Caulfield Guineas winner In Top Swing); Newenham (half sister to G1 Caulfield Cup runner-up Douro Valley); & stakes-placed Hip Hop (dam of G1 Oakleigh Plate-placed sprinter Tramuntana). Lindsay Park managing director Sam Hayes noted: "These mares will give De Beers the start a Gr1-winner from the Eight Carat family deserves & it is reflective of the faith Peter Devitt, Les Gordon & David Hayes have in the horse." De Beers will be standing for $6,600.
