US 13-year-old stallion Catienus (sire of Gr1-winner Precious Kitten) "has returned to Kentucky & will stand the 2008 breeding season for US$10,000 at Ramsey Farm," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Catienus (Storm Cat-Diamond City, by Mr Prospector) stood the previous 4 seasons at Highcliff Farm in New York (as property of owners Ken & Sarah Ramsey). Catienus (who stood his initial 3 seasons at stud at Ramsey Farm) currently ranks 30th on the US general sire list by progeny earnings with US$4,906,647 & 17th on the general sire list by winners with 99. Catienus sired 3 starters in last month's Breeders' Cup World Championships (including Talent Search, who finished 3rd in the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Sprint & Cannonball who was 3rd in the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf). From 4 crops of racing age, Catienus has sired 152 winners (17 stakes-winners) from 205 starters that have earned US$10,602,053. His star offspring Precious Kitten has won 6 of 18 career starts (including wins this year in the Gr1 John Mabee Handicap, Gr2 Palomar Handicap & Gr3 Gallorette Handicap) for US$1,119,688 earnings.
