Muller Wins Peru Horse-Of-Year

In Peru, 2005-06 champion 2YO colt Muller (El Compinche-Martina Girl, by Mat-boy) was named both champion 3YO male on dirt & Horse-Of-The-Year for the 2006-07 season "during ceremonies for the Premios Postin" (Peru's equivalent of the US Eclipse Awards) reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Muller won 11 consecutive races (including 10 straight stakes) topped by his victory in the Gr1 Clasico Derby Nacional (Peruvian Derby) over 2400m at Hipodromo de Monterrico in Lima & also including both the Gr1 Clasico Ricardo Ortiz de Zevallos (2000m) at Monterrico by 9-lengths & Gr1 Clasico Polla de Potrillos (Peruvian 2000 Guineas) over 1600m at Monterrico by 9.5 lengths, as well as the Gr2 Clasico La Copa (1 of 3 victories against older horses during the season). Muller was subsequently sold to Prince Faisal bin Khaled bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia in May. Other Peruvian champions included: Morena (2YO filly); Allianz Arena (3YO filly); El Escorial (older male on dirt for the 2nd time); Loca Amy (older female on dirt for the 2nd time); Jesus Manuel (sprinter for the 2nd time); Granizo (2YO colt); Farrel (miler); Dushanbe (3YO male on turf); La Soraya (3YO filly on turf); Davidov (older male on turf); & Australian-based Shuaily (older turf female).
