Keeneland Nov Day-2: US$950k Kingmambo Colt

Thursday, 8th November 2007

John Ferguson (acting on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum's Darley Stud) paid US$950,000 for Day-2's highest-priced weanling: a Kingmambo colt (out of Sadler's Wells mare Because) from the family of Irish Gr1-winners Quarter Moon & Yesterday. The colt was consigned by Eaton Sales as agent. Ferguson commented: "He was a very strong colt. He showed himself off very well. He's by a great sire & the Sadler's Wells-Kingmambo has been a fantastic cross. We don't buy a lot of weanlings, but we're always looking for foals to join the racing team. We're delighted to have him."
