Keeneland Nov Day-2: US$4.2m Island Sand
Lincoln Collins from bloodstock agents Kern-Lillingston Associates (acting for Barnes & Noble chief executive Leonard Riggio's My MeadowView Farm) out-bid prominent owner Satish Sanan & paid the Day-2 top price of US$4.2 million for Gr1-winning 6YO mare Island Sand (sold in-foal to A.P.Indy) during the 2nd session at the 15-day Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Kentucky. Island Sand (Tabasco Cat-Sue's Last Dance, by Forty Niner) was consigned by Maynard Farm as agent for James Osborne's B.A.Man Inc; on the track she recorded 5 wins (including the Gr1 Acorn Stakes & Gr2 Delaware Handicap) & earned US$1,182,777. Collins told thoroughbredtimes.com: "She's a beautiful mare in-foal to the right horse. She was a wonderful racemare & hopefully we will get some very good racehorses out of her."
