Monday, 5th November 2007

In South America, Gr1-winning filly Paloma Infiel (Auguri-Purita, by El Oriental) "unleashed an explosive move with 200m remaining & finished with a flourish" to defeat her male rivals by 1-length in Chile's Gr1 Premio El Ensayo (1st leg of the Chilean National Triple Crown) over 2400m on turf for 3YOs at Club Hipico in Santiago, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Paloma Infiel (ridden by Rafael Cisternas for trainer Hector Castillo) defeated Shapandaz (Dushyantor-Sirena Azul, by Golden Voyager) & front-running Top (Dushyantor-Florencia, by Semenenko). Paloma Infiel previously blitzed the males by 7.5-lengths in Chile's Gr1 Copa de Plata Italo Traverso Pasqualetti (final leg of Valparaiso Sporting Club's Triple Crown series for Southern Hemisphere 2YOs) over 1500m on soft turf at Vina del Mar in June, after previously finishing runner-up in the Gr2 El Estreno Nicanor Senoret (1st leg of the series) & then scoring by 2-lengths in the Gr2 Clasico Stud Book de Chile (2nd leg) in May. Overall she now has 4 wins (3 group victories) from 13 starts.
