Baughurst Wins Werribee Cup

Thursday, 1st November 2007

On the track yesterday, former Chatswood Stud shuttler Tayasu Tsuyoshi (Sunday Silence-Magaro, by Caro) added a black-type success when top-weighted 6YO gelding Baughurst (Tayasu Tsuyoshi-Mrs Parnell, by At Talaq) came from the tail of the field with a ground-saving rails run to score a 1-length victory in the $150,000 Listed Werribee Cup (2000m) in Victoria. Baughurst (ridden by Michael Rodd for trainer Simon Wilde) defeated favoured 4YO gelding Extend (Catbird-Calamera, by Caerleon) & front-running 5YO gelding Saliente (Arena-Ready To Smile, by Salieri). Baughurst is a half-brother to both Bretcarlyle (a dual Listed-winner in Adelaide) & Nancy Eleanor (winner of the 2003 Gr3 Adelaide Guineas). He now has 7 wins (also including this year's Hamilton Cup over 2200m in April & Moonee Valley Country Cup over 2040m in June) & 12 placings from 26 starts for $270,265 earnings.
