Donoghue-Pike New Season NZ Partnership

Wednesday, 25th July 2007

In New Zealand, Mark Donoghue "is set to once again train in partnership, after a successful season preparing a team on his own account from Te Aroha," reported nzracingnews.co.nz. Donoghue "is shifting to Cambridge & will begin the 2007-08 season in partnership with long-time friend Tony Pike". Donoghue confirmed: "I've had a good season training for Grant McLeod & Lisa Anderson, but it's time to move on. It has been a stepping stone & this is too good an opportunity to pass up. I've known Tony for years & we've always got on well together." Donoghue started his training career in Hastings & did a stint working for Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle Stables in Ireland before returning to Hastings, then later transferring to Foxton; in August 2004 he joined forces with Graham Richardson & branched out on his own account a couple of years ago, initially in Matamata, then in Te Aroha for McLeod & Anderson. The Donoghue-Pike team will include 20 3YOs & 18 2YOs.
