SAf Sibaya Yearling Sale: Aggregate Up 47%
At the conclusion of the 2nd session the sales aggregate had rocketed by 47% to R17.9 million (A$2.98 million). Jan Naudé, Chief Executive of BSA, said the strong increase in the average price paid per horse clearly demonstrated the Sale's quick growth and obvious popularity: "This was an excellent sale across the board and we had a strong middle market. Breeders and buyers generally agreed that the quality of bloodstock improved on the inaugural Sibaya Sale of last year, hence the higher average... This year's figures were not inflated at all by isolated high purchases." A total of 62 lots were sold for R100 000 (A$16,700) and higher, including 24 lots of over R150,000 (A$25,000).
