Rodd Heads To US For Anamato Ride

Australian jockey Michael Rodd will fly to the US on Friday to prepare to ride the David Hayes-trained Gr1-winning 3YO filly Anamato (Redoute's Choice-Voltage, by Whiskey Road) in the US$750,000 Gr1 American Oaks (10 furlongs on turf) at Hollywood Park in California on July 7. At her last start Anamato (ridden by Rodd) won the Gr1 SAJC Schweppes Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville in Adelaide on April 21. Overall she boasts 4 wins (also including March's Gr2 MRC Kewney Stakes over 1600m at Caulfield, February's Gr2 Hollylodge Thoroughbreds Classic over 1500m at Moonee Valley & 2006's Gr3 Darley Sires' Produce Stakes over 1600m at Morphettville) & 8 placings (including January's Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes over 1200m, plus 2006's Gr1 VRC Crown Oaks over 2500m, Gr2 Wakeful Stakes over 2000m, Gr3 Tranquil Star Stakes over 1400m, Gr3 Danehill Stakes over 1200m, Gr3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes over 1200m & Listed Fernhill Handicap over 1600m) from 17 starts for $813,350 earnings.
