Blitz'em Riley Wins Creswick Stakes

Tuesday, 12th June 2007

Waikato Stud sire O'Reilly (Last Tycoon-Courtza, by Pompeii Court) added a black-type success when gelded son Blitz'em Riley (O'Reilly-Covered N Grey, by Lord Triad) finished fast down the outside to snatch a last-stride victory in a 3-way photo-finish to the $100,000 Listed A.R.Creswick Stakes (1200m) for 3YOs at Moonee Valley in Melbourne. Despite racing wide throughout, Blitz'em Riley (ridden by Stephen Baster for trainer Marion Shears) scored by a nose fellow gelding Adaptor (Rancho Ruler-Dream Till Dawn, by Night Shift) with a further half-head to front-running colt Muzdaher (Stravinsky-Gazebo, by Snaadee). Blitz'em Riley (a NZ$28,000 yearling consigned by Rich Hill Stud at the 2005 NZB Select Sale at Karaka) now has 2 wins & a placing from 3 starts for $71,350 earnings.
