French Deputy Joins Elite Freshman Group
Arrowfield Stud's former shuttle stallion French Deputy joined an elite club of only 7 freshman sires this year to sire a stakes-winner with the victory of Class Apart (French Deputy-Stylish Lass, by Barathea) in last weekend's Listed Oaklands Plate (1410m) for 2YOs. French Deputy, who was 2004 Champion 1st Season Sire in Japan and currently the sire of 7 individual Gr1 winners from his 30 stakes winners, has so far produced 4 winners from 6 runners in Australia, and that from a small debut crop of just 48 foals. Class Apart's half-sister by Redoute's Choice was sold at Inglis Easter for $600,000. Class Apart's win was one leg of a juvenile stakes double for Bellerive Stud (the other being Gr1 AJC Champagne Stakes winner Meurice), and a metropolitan treble with the win, too, of Love's Great.
