US Medication Committee Approves Steroids Rule

Monday, 26th February 2007

The US Racing Medication & Testing Consortium's board of directors "approved a model rule that would establish threshold levels for anabolic steroids," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. The rule will now be forwarded to the Racing Commissioners International for approval at its annual convention on April 23-27. RMTC executive director confirmed the "model rule" involves "threshold levels for the 4 US FDA approved steroids: stanozolol, testosterone, nandrolone & boldenone"; he noted all other steroids would be illegal. Anabolic steroids are prohibited in virtually all racing jurisdictions outside North America.
