Monday, 26th February 2007

Yarraman Park stallion Catbird (Danehill-Fitting, by Marscay) added a group success when daughter Catechuchu (Catbird-Noble Fleur, by Dahar) upset the males for a 1-length victory in the $125,000 Gr3 Schweppervescence Cup (1400m) for 3YOs at Caulfield. Catechuchu (ridden by Craig Williams for trainer David Hayes) defeated fast-finishing favoured colt Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus-Circles Of Gold, by Marscay) & the gelding Éclair Passion (Fantastic Light-Flight To Fantasy, by Bluebird). Catechuchu (a $50,000 yearling at the 2005 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne) now has 4 wins (also including 2006's Gr3 Inglis WA Champion Fillies Stakes over 1600m at Ascot, Listed Twilight Glow Stakes over 1400m at Sandown & Listed Keith Mackay Quality over 1200m at Randwick) & 6 placings (including last start's Gr3 The Vanity over 1200m at Moonee Valley on February 3, plus 2006's Gr2 Magic Night Stakes over 1200m, Listed Seppelt Wines Stakes over 1400m & $350,000 Inglis Premier over 1200m, as well as 2005's Listed Ritzenhoff Stakes over 1000m on debut) from 15 starts for $470,000 earnings.
