Bernardini 1st Breeding Success
In Kentucky, US Champion Bernardini (the highest-priced stallion entering stud this year) "covered his 1st mare this week at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley near Lexington," reported bloodhorse.com. The 8YO Editor's Note mare Lead Story (owned by Stanley Gumberg's Skara Glen Stable & William Farish) won 3 Gr2-stakes & earned US$842,031; she is a half-sister to stakes-winner Capejinsky & her dam Gwenjinsky (by Seattle Dancer) is a half-sister to Gr1-winning millionaires Glitter Woman & Unbridled Elaine. Farish stands Bernardini's sire A.P.Indy at his Lane's End Farm in Kentucky. Darley chief operating officer Dan Pride confirmed: "Bernardini took to the mating naturally." Bernardini (A.P.Indy-Cara Rafaela, by Quiet American) was 2006 champion 3YO male for breeder-owner Darley & his 2007 stud fee is US$100,000.
