Natural Destiny Wins Doomben Stakes

Favoured 4YO entire Natural Destiny (Naturalism-Force Of Destiny, by Archregent) set a new course record (1min 17.09sec) in scoring a 3.25-lengths victory in the $200,000 Listed Doomben Stakes (1350m) at Doomben in Brisbane. Natural Destiny (ridden by Shane Treweek for trainer Gordon Yorke) defeated 6YO gelding Picaday (Piccolo-Our Today, by Semipalatinsk) & 5YO gelding Hard To Catch (Dodge-Mrs Bligh, by Celestial Bounty). The previous track record (1min 17:21sec) was set by former star sprinter & now Glenlogan Park sire Falvelon (Alannon-Devil's Zephyr, by Zephyr Zing) in the 2001 Gr1 Doomben 10,000. Natural Destiny (a $10,000 yearling at the 2004 Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney) took his record to 9 wins (also including his previous start in the Gr3 Summer Stakes over 1200m at Doomben on December 9 & the Gr3 Healey Stakes over 1200m at Eagle Farm in June) & a runner-up from 12 starts for $584,450 earnings.
