Furio Wins Star Track-Express Stakes

Vinery Stud stallion Testa Rossa (Perugino-Bo Dapper, by Sir Dapper) added a black-type success when the colt Furio (Testa Rossa-Central Express, by Century) burst clear over the last 100m for a 2.75-lengths victory in yesterday's $150,000 Listed Star Track-Express Stakes (1800m) for 3YOs at Flemington. Furio (ridden by Darren Beadman for trainer Robert Smerdon) defeated fellow colt Volcanic Star (Fuji Kiseki-Starnet, by Last Tycoon) & the gelding Sender (Keeper-Oh Sister, by Marooned). Furio (a $140,000 yearling at the 2004 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) now has 3 wins & 4 placings (including last start's Listed Geelong Classic over 2200m on October 25, plus the Gr3 Darley Sires' Produce Stakes over 1600m at Morphettville in May, Listed Oaklands Plate over 1400m at Victoria Park in April & Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes over 1100m at Morphettville in February) from 13 starts for $211,950 earnings.
