Kentucky Breeding Day-2: US$2.8m Because

Thursday, 9th November 2006

Bloodstock agent Hugo Lascelles (acting for an international client he would not identify) paid the Day-2 top price of US$2.8 million for 5YO Sadler's Wells mare Because (sold in foal with a colt to Kingmambo) at the 14-day Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. Because (consigned by Eaton Sales as agent) is out of Darshaan mare Jude & is a full sister to both 2001 Irish Gr1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Quarter Moon & to 2003 Gr1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Yesterday. Lascelles told thoroughbredtimes.com: "It's one of the outstanding families in a really long time. She's a sister to 2 really good horses & the pedigree is really alive. She's exciting. There's so much happening in the family; it just keeps going on & on & on." He added the Sadler's Wells colt "is one to keep & run [her offspring]" & noted Because "will probably remain in the US for a return visit to Kingmambo in the 2007 season" because "we'll also try to get a few daughters out of her."
