Kentucky Breeding Day-1: US$4.5m Sassy Pants
John Sikura & Hill 'n' Dale also paid US$4.5 million for 14-year-old mare Sassy Pants (Saratoga Six-Special Portion, by Czaravich) dam of Gr1 winners Dubai Escapade & Madcap Escapade. In September, Hill 'n' Dale lost 8YO mare Serena's Tune (out of champion Serena's Song, by Rahy) who produced a Vindication colt that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum purchased for US$2.8 million at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale; Serena's Tune's 1st foal Serena's Cat (a Storm Cat filly) sold for US$1.4 million during the 2003 Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Sassy Pants was consigned by Dromoland Farm as agent & Sikura told thoroughbredtimes.com: "We had a very good yearling sale & we tragically lost our best mare earlier this year. I think both of these mares (Madcap Escapade & Sassy Pants) are unique & obviously Sassy Pants is an outstanding producer. Hopefully over time they both will have several foals that could make a difference for us."
