Wednesday, 8th November 2006

In New Zealand yesterday, Windsor Park's champion sire Volksraad (Green Desert-Celtic Assembly, by Secretariat) added a group success when 5YO gelding Fiscal Madness (Volksraad-Belle Nuite, by Balmerino) scored a 0.75-lengths victory in the NZ$70,000 weight-for-age Gr3 Lindauer Stakes (2000m) at Ellerslie in Auckland. Fiscal Madness (ridden by Opie Bosson for trainer John Sargent) defeated 4YO mare Twinkling (Star Way-Limitless, by Sir Tristram) & 6YO mare Shereigns (Danasinga-Liliaceous, by Pre Catelan). Fiscal Madness (passed-in for just NZ$12,000 as a yearling at the 2003 NZB Select Colts Sale) now has 8 wins (also including the Listed Great Easter Stakes over 1400m at Riccarton Park in April & Listed Southland Guineas over 1600m as a 3YO) & 8 placings (including last month's Listed Matamata Cup over 1600m, plus the Gr3 Canterbury Gold Cup over 2000m in May, Gr3 Easter Cup over 1600m in April & Listed Timaru Cup over 1600m last December, as well as the Gr1 Levin Classic over 1600m as a 3YO) from 25 starts.
