Monday, 30th October 2006

Also in Singapore, Vinery Stud stallion Success Express (Hold Your Peace-Au Printemps, by Dancing Champ) added another feature victory when star Australian-bred 4YO gelding Why Be (Success Express-Charybdis, by Royal Academy) returned from a 3-months spell & again led all-the-way to score a half-length victory on a soft track (after heavy rain during the afternoon) in the S$125,000 (A$100,000) Kranji Stakes A (1200m). Why Be (ridden by Farick Tan for Kiwi trainer Laurie Laxon) defeated Best Weapon & Key Choice to take his record to 12 wins & 2 placings from 15 starts for just under S$900,000 (A$720,000) earnings. Why Be (originally a A$20,000 weanling at the 2003 Inglis Select Sale in Sydney & then resold for NZ$26,000 as a yearling at the 2004 NZB Select Sale at Karaka) is preparing for the Gr1 Hong Kong International Sprint (1200m) at Sha Tin in December.
