Imananabaa Wins NZ Sarten Stakes

Tuesday, 24th October 2006

In New Zealand yesterday, Widden Stud shuttler Anabaa (Danzig-Balbonella, by Gay Mecene) added a black-type success when Australian-bred daughter Imananabaa (Anabaa-Iman, by Zemindar) notched her 2nd stakes win in a month with victory by a neck in the NZ$50,000 Listed James & Annie Sarten Memorial Stakes (1400m) for 3YOs at Te Rapa. Imananabaa (ridden by Cameron Lammas for trainer Jim Gibbs) defeated 2 fellow fillies: favourite Naturo (Postponed-Rubiton's Best, by Rubiton) & last season's highest-rated NZ female juvenile Chant (Traditionally-Chantenay, by Warning). Imananabaa (a NZ$310,000 yearling at the 2005 NZB Karaka Premier Sale) now has 3 wins (also including the Listed NZB Soliloquy Stakes over 1400m at Ellerslie last start on September 30) & 3 placings (including the 2005 Listed Gosling Chapman Juvenile over 1100m at Avondale) from 7 starts.
