Takeover Target Earns 127 Timeform Rating
Australia's globe-trotting sprinter Takeover Target (Celtic Swing-Shady Stream, by Archregent) has "earned a 127 (Timeform) rating with his recent win in the Sprinter's Stakes in Japan," reports The Daily Telegraph. That compares very favourably with the world's current highest rated horses Hurricane Run, Shirocco and Deep Impact, all on 131. It also places the $1,250 bargain buy at the 2003 Inglis Winter Thoroughbred Sale in the top 10 horses in the world. The Gr1 Sprinter's Stakes was the 5th leg of the 2006 Global Sprint Challenge which Takeover Target leads with 33 points, following earlier wins in Australia's Gr1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington & the UK Gr2 King's Stand Stakes (5 furlongs) at Royal Ascot, plus 3rd in the UK Gr1 Golden Jubilee Stakes (6 furlongs) at Royal Ascot.
