Eremein Out Of Spring Feature Races
At the track, multiple Gr1-winning 5YO gelded stayer Eremein is officially out of contention for the major Spring Carnival races in Melbourne with a back muscle injury & will be spelled until the 2007 autumn. Eremein had been early favourite for Australia's premier weight-for-age contest, the Gr1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 28. The 5-time Gr1-winner Eremein (Timber Country-Marrego, by Marscay) was rated in the best 15 gallopers in the world earlier this year by the International Federation Of Horseracing Authorities following his Gr1 treble during the 2006 Sydney autumn carnival (Gr1 Ranvet Stakes, Gr1 BMW & Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes); overall he now boasts 11 wins (also including the 2005 Gr1 AJC Derby & 2006 Gr2 Chelmsford Stakes) & 8 placings (including runner-up in the Gr1 Chipping Norton Stakes & Gr2 Hill Stakes) from 24 starts for $4,172,445 earnings.
