Dance Floor Adds US Black-Type

Tuesday, 3rd October 2006

NZ's Cheval Stud-based US-bred stallion Dance Floor (Star de Naskra-Dance Troupe, by Native Charger) added a US black-type success when 4YO mare Somethinaboutlaura (Dance Floor-Crystals Of Ice, by It's Freezing) cruised home by 4-lengths in the US$75,000 Listed Pacific Heights Handicap (8 furlongs on turf) for fillies & mares at Golden Gate Fields in California. Somethinaboutlaura (ridden by Russell Baze for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer) defeated Royal Kleven (Kleven-Royal Verbatim, by Regal And Royal) & Chelcee's Hope (Bartok-Pachira, by Saros). Earlier this season Somethinaboutlaura won the Gr2 A Gleam Handicap (7 furlongs) at Hollywood Park & overall now boasts 8 wins (also including last year's Listed Palo Alto Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Bay Meadows) & 5 placings from 17 starts. Dance Floor (who stands at Cheval stud for NZ$2,500+GST) returned to NZ last season following his purchase by a group of Kiwi breeders who successfully bred mares to him during his 1st stint in NZ when located at Trelawney Stud from 1993-98; world-wide he has notched 170 individual winners (8 individual stakes-winners) in 12 different countries, including 56 individual winners in the US.
