Kentucky Yearlings Day-2: US$410k Smart Strike Filly
Bloodstock agent Joseph Brocklebank (acting for a new client whom he declined to identify) paid US$410,000 for a Smart Strike filly (out of stakes-placed Steady Growth mare Lisieux) reported thoroughbredtimes.com. The Kentucky-bred filly was consigned by Mulholland Springs; her dam Lisieux (a half-sister to multiple Gr2-winner Sweetest Chant, dam of Gr2 winner Danzig's Beauty & granddam of graded winner & sire Distorted Humor) was purchased by Shenanigan Farm while carrying the filly for just US$13,000 at the 2005 Keeneland January Horses-Of-All-Ages Sale. Brocklebank commented: "The sire is so reliable. She looked like a stakes horse to me. We were looking at buying her for half of that, but it's been so hard to buy here. You have to go that extra."
