New Jump Series Honours Houlahan

The Victorian Feature Jumps Racing Season was launched in Melbourne yesterday with the announcement of a new jumps series in honour of legendary trainer Jim Houlahan. The series "will recognise the champion jumps horse, jockey & trainer who each accumulate the most points from Australia's 13 feature jumps races during 2006; the races (run from April-July at Flemington, Moonee Valley, Sandown, Warrnambool & Oakbank) all carry minimum $100,000 prize-money. In addition to trophies for the horse, jockey & trainer that win the series, Moonee Valley Racing Club & WinBet are offering $100,000 bonus for winning 3 legs of the Championship plus the final leg, the Dominant Hiskens Steeplechase (3700m) at Moonee Valley on July 29.
