Borrascoso & Triano Share Puerto Rico Horse-Of-Year

In the Caribbean, Borrascoso (winner of the 2005 Clasico del Caribe) & last year's champion imported 2YO male Triano "were each honored as Puerto Rico's 2005 Horse-Of-The-Year during ceremonies for the Camarero Awards for native-bred & imported divisional champions at the San Juan Hotel & Casino," reported thoroughbredtimes.com.

  • Puerto Rican-bred Borrascoso (Fappiano's Star-Maquinita, by Hardy Man) won 3 of 10 starts last year (including both the Copa Gobernador & Clasico del Caribe, the annual Caribbean thoroughbred championship for 3YOs of the 10-member Confederacion Hipica del Caribe) & earned US$293,900 for the season; campaigned by Luis Archilla's Silent Stable, Borrascoso was also honored as champion 3YO male.
  • Kentucky-bred Triano (by Pioneering) won 10 of 11 starts last season (including the Copa George Washington, Copa 4 de Julio & Clasico Angel Cordero, all of which are considered Gr1 events there) & earned US$206,080; he was also honored as champion sprinter & imported 3YO colt.
