US Jockeys Sue Former Management

Wednesday, 1st March 2006

Meanwhile US Jockeys' Guild legal counsel Barry Broad announced "plans to pursue a lawsuit against the Guild's former management team that was led by former president Dr Wayne Gertmenian & his Matrix Capital Associates," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Broad said he expects the Guild's Board to "give the go-ahead on the planned lawsuit, which could be filed within the next month". Broad (who has worked with many unions) said he has "never seen a more corrupt union management team" than the Guild's former managers & declared: "I've never seen anything this crazy! It was done in such a straight-forward manner. In unions, I've seen some specific accusations of corruption, usually over 1 specific matter or 1 person; but this occurred on so many levels. The degree of this, in my experience, is totally unprecedented."
