Jennifer Wins Strutt Stakes

Tuesday, 14th February 2006

Ill-fated former Lynden Park shuttler Lion Cavern (Mr Prospector-Secrettame, by Secretariat) added a black-type success when favoured filly Jennifer (Lion Cavern-Pals, by Palace Music) made it 4 wins from her last 5 starts with a dominant 2.5-lengths victory in yesterday's $80,000 Listed Strutt Stakes (2100m) for 3YO fillies in Hobart. Jennifer (ridden by Brendan McCoull for trainer Troy Blacker) defeated Darcenell (Tailings-Repatriation, by Proven Valour) & Tagine (Last Tycoon-Circles Of Ice, by Marauding). At her previous start, Jennifer (a $2,500 yearling at the 2004 Inglis Autumn Sale in Melbourne Sale) won the Listed Wrest Point 1000 Guineas (1600m) at Elwick on January 29; overall she now has 6 wins & 1 placing in 11 starts for $120,417 prize-money. Jennifer (whose grand-dam is 1989 Gr1 Sydney Cup winner Palace Revolt) has also now won the initial 2 legs of the Tasmanian Triple Crown for fillies (1000 Guineas & Strutt Stakes) & will add a $100,000 Ring Of Diamonds bonus if she wins the final leg: the Tasmanian Oaks (2100m) at Launceston on February 26.
