Tatts UK: Gross Up 22.4%

Friday, 10th February 2006

Overall at the Tattersalls February Sale, 203 lots sold for 1,957,900 guineas (A$5.09m) which set a new record for turnover & was up 22.4% on last year. However the 9,645 guineas (A$25,074) average was down 5.3% & the 4,200 guineas (A$10,919) median was down 16%. Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony summed up: "It was never going to be easy to follow a year as spectacular as 2005, where a record turnover was recorded at every sale; so it's very pleasing to begin 2006 in such a positive manner, with another record turnover. The February Sale has grown in size from year to year & it was encouraging to see so many familiar faces at the 7th edition of what is now an important fixture on the sales calendar."
