Monday, 6th February 2006

In Hong Kong yesterday, 4YO gelding Sunny Sing (by Sri Pekan) finished fast to snatch victory by a neck in the HK$8 million (A$1.3m) Gr1 Mercedes Classic Mile (1600m) at Sha Tin. Sunny Sing (ridden by Eric Saint-Martin for expatriate Australian trainer John Moore) defeated Australian-bred fellow 4YO gelding Hail The Storm (Metal Storm-Sound Willie) & NZ-bred 4YO gelding Happee Owner-Ambitious Owner (Towkay-Make Up). Sunny Sing had finished 4th (when racing as Sacred Nuts) in the UK 2004 Gimcrack Stakes for trainer Michael Bell; he also won twice over 6 furlongs in England (once at Ascot) & has now won 4 of his 9 HK starts (including the last 3 in succession).
