US Champ Brave Raj Dies At 22

Brave Raj (US champion 2YO filly of 1986 who set an all-time earnings record in her division) has died aged 22 "after losing a Gulch foal" at Patchen Wilkes Farm in Kentucky, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Florida-bred Brave Raj (Rajab-Bravest Yet, by Bravo) won 6 of 9 starts in 1986 (including 5 stakes capped by victory in the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies where she took her career earnings to US$933,650, making her the richest juvenile filly in history). As a broodmare, Brave Raj produced 10 winners, including stakes-winners Russian Tango (by Nijinsky II) & Bravo Bull (by Holy Bull).
