NZB 2YOs 2-Day Average Down 2.8%

Thursday, 17th November 2005

Cumulatively over both sessions (select & general) at the 2-day NZB Ready-To-Run Sale, 206 2YOs sold for NZ$8,952,000 (down 6.4% on last year's 214 sold for NZ$9,566,000). The NZ$43,456 cumulative average was down 2.8% (last year NZ$44,701): colts averaged NZ$52,019 (last year (NZ$54,901) & fillies averaged NZ$34,971 (last year NZ$29,905). The clearance rate fell to 63.2% (last year 69%). NZB marketing & public relations manager Petrea Vela summed up: "Demand was keen for quality stock. We were pleased with the depth of the buying bench, with many buyers aware of the success that graduates of this Sale have achieved. The resurgence of the Malaysian market was particularly pleasing & along with the Hong Kong & Korean buyers, underpinned this sale significantly. This can, in part, be attributed to the great success NZ-breds have been enjoying in those regions this season & is welcome reward for the considerable effort NZB has spent in developing these markets in recent years."
