Bernadette Cooper Quits Macau

In southeast Asia, Australian jockey Bernadette Cooper dramatically announced her intention to quit riding in Macau after stewards imposed a 14-meeting ban following an inquiry into her ride on Secret Star at Tuesday evening's Taipa sand meeting. Cooper (who only returned to riding in mid-October, after recovering from a serious fall in January, & landed a winning Taipa treble just last weekend) pleaded not guilty to a charge involving a perceived lack of vigour in the straight.
