Racing Vic Issues 9 Sport Bet Licences

Racing Victoria has approved 9 sports bookmaking licences "to be issued for a 3-year period commencing 1 January 2006" subject to "an annual performance review where actual performance in each year is measured against the projections contained in each application". RV chief executive Robert Nason noted: "The licensing process has been a joint assignment between a RV & Victorian Bookmakers Association working party which has involved a rigorous evaluation process. This move provides the opportunity for Victorian bookmakers to establish a dominant position in the global sports bookmaking market." The successful applicants for the licenses are:

  • Michael Eskander
  • Vicbet: Rod Cleary
  • Betstar: Alan Eskander
  • Global Sportsbet: Gary Walsh
  • Cricketbet: Philip Nott
  • Norm Short
  • Simon Beasley
  • Winbet: Rick Killian, Greg Engellener, Paul Johnson
  • Con Kafataris (subject to registration as a Vic bookmaker)
