Adena Mares: US150,000 Ennui

Monday, 14th November 2005

Ed Hudon paid US$150,000 for 6YO mare Ennui (a winning half-sister to Gr2 winner Suave) reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Ennui (by Gone West, out of multiple Gr1 winner Urbane, by Citidancer) is in foal to Golden Missile & the purchase "came with a 2006 season option to Adena Kentucky stallion Touch Gold. Hudon commented: "I was a fan of Urbane to start with & I know the family is doing well right now. It was a little higher than I wanted to go. I thought she'd bring US$125,000. Suave ran pretty big in Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic & Urbane is going to be bred back to A.P.Indy next year, so there were a lot of things to like about the pedigree." Stronach had bought Ennui for US$65,000 at the 2003 Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Suave (a son of A.P.Indy) won the Gr2 Saratoga Breeders' Cup Handicap, finished 2nd in the Gr1 Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes & 5th fifth in the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic.
