Thursday, 10th November 2005

Multiple Gr1-winning 5YO Starcraft (Soviet Star-Flying Floozie, by Pompeii Court) "will stand at England's Cheveley Park Stud in Newmarket for the 2006 northern hemisphere season," reported thoroughbredinternet.com. Starcraft (who won Gr1 races in Australia, NZ, UK & France) is scheduled to stand at part-owner Arrowfield Stud in the NSW Hunter Valley for the 2006 southern hemisphere season. Cheveley Park managing director Chris Richardson announced overnight: "We are truly delighted that we will be standing such a tough & genuine champion international miler as Starcraft. He defeated the best in both hemispheres & I am sure he will be well received & supported by European breeders." Starcraft (a NZ$80,000 yearling at the 2002 NZB Premier Sale at Karaka) retires with 11 wins & 7 placings from 22 starts for $2,790,879 prize-money; his fee at Cheveley Park has been set at £10,000 (A$24,000).
