Dehere Joins Ashford Roster

Monday, 7th November 2005

Arrowfield Stud's 14-year-old shuttler Dehere (Deputy Minister-Sister Dot, by Secretariat) will join the roster at Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Kentucky (with his fee to be announced later), while Coolmore's 9YO NZ Cambridge Stud shuttler Stravinsky (Nureyev-Fire The Groom, by Blushing Groom) "has been sold to stand at the Japan Bloodstock Breeders' Association's Shizunai Stallion Station," Coolmore Australia general manager Michael Kirwan confirmed. "Both are part of the same arrangement. But Stravinsky's southern hemisphere duties at Cambridge (where he has stood since 2000) will not be affected & he will continue to shuttle to NZ." Dehere (who was named US Champion 2YO colt following wins in the Gr1 Champagne Stakes, Gr1 Hopeful Stakes, Gr2 Saratoga Special Stakes & Gr3 Sandford Stakes) began his stud career at Ashford in 1995 & shuttled to Coolmore for 4 seasons (1995-99). He was sent to Japan mid-way through his 5th season, but has continued to shuttle to Arrowfield since 2000. He has 490 winners from just over 600 runners & his 55 stakes-winners include dual Australian Gr1 winner Belle Du Jour (Golden Slipper & Newmarket Handicap), dual US Gr1 Spinster Stakes winner Take Charge Lady, triple Australian Gr1 winner Defier (George Main Stakes, Queen Elizabeth Stakes & Doomben Cup) & fellow Australian Gr1 winner Bollinger (Coolmore Classic).
