Thursday, 27th October 2005

Citidancer (one of Maryland's leading sires for many years) "has been pensioned at the Pons family's Country Life Farm because of declining fertility," reported bloodhorse.com. Citidancer (an 18-year-old son of Dixieland Band, from Tentam mare Willamae) has sired 26 stakes-winners & 30 stakes-placed performers for US$20.8 million career progeny earnings. His 1st crop yielded millionaire-earning filly Urbane (who won the Gr1 Ashland Stakes, Gr1 John Morris Handicap & Gr2 Delaware Handicap, plus runner-up in the Gr1 Kentucky Oaks, Gr1 Santa Anita Oaks & Gr1 Hollywood Starlet Stakes). Among his subsequent stars were Hookedonthefeelin, Cherokee's Boy, Park Avenue Ball, Disco Rico & Latin Dancer. On the track himself, Kentucky-bred Citidancer won 3 races by a total 36-lengths & finished 2nd to champion sprinter Housebuster in the 1990 Gr1 Jerome Handicap at Belmont Park in his 4 career starts. He entered stud at Country Life in 1991.
